Crisanto is a young man living in San Lucas, who has learnt the art of
woodcarving. His carved figures of the Mayan Christ and Nativity scenes, amongst others, have provided quality gifts to both individuals and
churches in the US.
His work takes time to complete, but he
provides a quality product, very different from the rough and ready work one encounters in the markets. Often visitors to San Lucas will take
statues or figures carved by Crisanto back to the US. They are packed in a plywood box to prevent damage, and posted or delivered to friends.
