Easter and the town fair are the most important events celebrated in San Lucas
Schools are closed during Holy Week, and there are major processions on the Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
The town fair is celebrated on October 18th. The town center is closed from about the 10th to the 20th, as the town fills up with Ferris wheels, roundabouts, amusement arcades and penny stalls.
Guatemalan Independence is marked on the 13th, 14th and 15th of September. This celebration involves students in all the local schools.
Christmas celebrations are muted, as it is the coffee harvesting season.
